The Milky Way Galaxy
Dominic Kamp:
Actually, shooting the milky way requires not more than good preparation. First, you need a new moon night so that there is absolutely nothing else emitting light than the stars. Locating the milky way is fairly easy (and I’m sure there are much simpler ways) but I use Star Walk for my iPhone! ;-) Then you require the usual low noise @ higher ISO from a full frame sensor to capture the full intensity of the night sky.
Now, since those bastard stars won’t hold still while shooting the picture, I was lucky enough to borrow a Celestron tripod which can be set to follow the stars. I tried several exposures and found f/3.2, ISO 800, 30sec to be the best.
Then I added the trees as a separate layer in front of the stars and that’s it. Glad you like it!
