My iPhone: 4GB model (yes, no joke), Silverback. I should say that the only reason I’m still using this piece of Apple history is that I’m stingy. It’s only $20/month for unlimited data and texting. Yes, it takes 15 seconds to load the SMS app. Yes, that’s right. Everything is dog slow. But somehow, in some small way, I feel like I’m sticking it to the man by only paying $20/month.
The apps on my homescreen:
Photos: I’ve taken about 300 photos in the nearly 3 years that I’ve owned this phone. I have no idea why this is still on my homescreen. Probably to remind me that I can take pictures of things.
iPod: This has music queued up for doing yard work. Plug in my custom molded ear phones and I can’t even hear the lawn mower. Again, I have no idea why this is still on my homescreen, since I rarely mow the lawn.
Maps: I actually use this a lot. Over Edge it’s barely doable though.
Camera: Read the Photos blurb.
Stocks: I fire this up every time I want to remind myself that I bought APPL at $16 back in 2000 and sold it way to early.
Weather: Current cities I’ve got loaded up - Danville, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, Bass Lake and Austin, TX (SXSW this weekend)
Settings: I use this a lot actually mostly to work with WiFi networks or turn Bluetooth on/off.
Calendar: This just shows me the date. I’m not even sure how to work anything else on it.
App Store: I find it fun to browse apps when I’ve got free time, see what’s new and popular out there. Rarely do I download them what with the combination of the oldest iPhone ever plus the Edge network, it’s just too painful.
Ego: This is like a shortcut for Google Analytics. Stats straight to the veins, quick and simple.
Chase: I hate Chase. I loved WaMu. But WaMu didn’t have an app, and Chase does. It’s actually an app that works really well. I count all my millions with it.
Things: Clearly, I’ve got stuff to do.
Tweetie: Probably my most used app. What can be said that hasn’t been said already?
Google Voice: I use this web based app for dialing clients. It’s quick and slick.
Billings: One of my favorite features of Billings Touch is that you can see on a daily basis how much you’ve billed. I would kill for that in the desktop version. For now, this will have to do.
Phone: No one ever calls me.
Mail: No one ever emails.
SMS: Txting is so l337.
Safari: Mmmm, internet.
Honorable 20th App: Ramp Champ used to be on here, but I’ve managed to beat all the levels and they’ve been slow to release others so it’s been moved back a page.
